Responsible Gambling Awareness Week - October 20-26, 2008

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week 2007

October 22 to 28 marked the first annual Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW) in Alberta. Launched at Edmonton’s Century Casino by Fred Lindsay, Solicitor General and Minister of Public Security, RGAW 2007 highlighted the responsible and problem gambling education programs that are available to the Alberta gambling public.

Jointly conceived and implemented by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission in partnership with the gambling industry, these programs are intended to help Albertans make informed choices and decisions about how they gamble.

RGAW 2007 focused on increasing awareness of the need to gamble responsibly and the availability of related educational and informational materials within Alberta’s casinos and Racing Entertainment Centres (RECs). Serving as an effective and visible on-site source of responsible gambling information materials and manned by a representative, the in-casino/Racing Entertainment Centre Responsible Gambling Information Centres (RGICs) were the focus of RGAW promotions.
